Early Summer Wines
We have recently added to our portfolio Château La Sauvageonne Gran Vin Blanc from the iconic producer in the Languedoc; Gerard Bertrand. A blend of Grenache blanc, Vermentino, Viognier and Roussanne, its exposure, its location and its exceptional volcanic soil give it a unique character - "Grandiose and wild". Aromas of hawthorn, almond and floral notes of violet and yellow fruits (mango and apricot). The woody side of this cuvée is very delicate with notes of gingerbread and tobacco. This wine is also certified organic and biodynamic.
Another wine is Gavi di Gavi ‘Ronchetti’ from Marco Bonfante. Ronchetti comes from a selection of the best grapes from the Sorì Ronchetti Vineyard, in the heart of Gavi area. It is a surprising wine: it has a delicate smell with a strong character. Its big personality derives from its intense minerality. The elegance and class, both on the nose and on the palate, are the distinctive notes of this wine which represents the real essence of Gavi.
Pio Cesare Dolcetto d’ Alba is a light red wine from Pio Cesare. Considered one of the best producers in Italy. This wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks so there are no woody notes. Skin contact maceration is for a short period of time. The result is fresh, fruity and fragrant, with body and structure. Spicy, ripe fruit and roundness. You can serve at a slightly lower temperature than normal reds making it perfect for summer.
Albert Bichot Moulin-A-Vent from Domaine de Rochegrès. This wine is made from the Gamay grape in the Beaujolais appellation of Burgundy. The part of the region was always looked down at, as being the cheaper area and only famous for the Beaujolais Nouveau. However, with the investments and effort of producers like Albert Bichot this variety is growing in popularity. The wine is Floral and full-flavoured, this beautiful wine exudes aromas of rose and dark wild berries with an expressive mineral base. The palate is generous, with a structure that is both complex and harmonious. The finish is intense and subtly flavoured.
