2016 is unquestionably a great Bordeaux vintage, wilder and more tannic than its predecessor, the fine 2015, which also shows at Chateau Cambon la Pelouse. Quite powerful, yet with freshness and precision, intense with ripe dark berries, this is very high-quality winemaking, better than some Grand Cru Classé. 2016 has a slightly higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%) than in 2015, plus 42% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, aged in barrels, of which 35% were new, 50% in second use.
