This tiny family estate at the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation is remarkably well-situated, lying at the foot of a south-facing slope in the village of Saint-Laurent des Combes, where it enjoys the advantages of a naturally outstanding terroir. Some vine plants are more than 80 years old. Jean-Paul Borderie pours all his expertise and love for the soil into farming the estate, which he tends using integrated farming methods. This wine is charming right away, by its beautiful deep sheen showing dark purples tints and by the delicacy of its aromas of red fruit on a backdrop of spices. On the palate, it feels creamy smooth with long-lasting structure given by delicious, fleshy tannins. All these qualities make Clos Béard superb! Clos Beard gives everything one would expect in a wine that comes from this exceptional terroir, elegance, delicacy and refinement.
