The 2010 Vintage
Defined since its early beginnings by natural, intense aromas, 2010 immediately left its mark. Pinot Noir, sourced notably from grand cru vineyards, simply shone, showcasing a delicate, spicy dimension in a well-balanced style. This generous, sunny vintage, characterised by extremes of weather, ripened the grapes to perfection, honing their delicious, juicy notes. On the gentle slopes of Verzy and Verzenay to the north, the grapes revealed greater finesse and freshness, while their cousins in Ay, Bouzy and Ambonay offered more spice and superior structure. This remarkable vintage has sprung from this alliance, the intense aromas of which will temper and complexify over time. Which explains why 2010 has been selected and set apart to create this smooth and rounded vintage of great complexity, mellowed by the chalk-based grand cru vineyards.
Blend
The Pinot Noir is well-structured and subdued in this beautifully balanced vintage. Grapes grown on the gentle, north-exposed slopes of Verzy and Verzenay are delicate and intensely aromatic, while the south-facing grapes sourced in the Grand Cru vineyards of Ay, Bouzy and Ambonnay reveal structure and spice. The alliance of these diverse terroirs yields a perfectly balanced cuvée combining nervosity and feathery-light structure, depth and delicatesse.
