Raventos i Blanc Manuel Raventos Negra

Raventos i Blanc Manuel Raventos Negra

Manuel Raventós' personal selection of the best wines of the vintage.

Vintage
A warm and dry year.

An extremely dry vintage, with extreme temperatures, frost in April and a heat wave from May to July.

A vintage marked by some extreme contrasts due to our Mediterranean climate. Autumn was hot and very humid (308 L/m2). The winter was cold with a heavy snowfall on 4 February that left up to 10 cm of snow in some places on the estate. Spring started out cold, with frost on the night of 9 April that burned 5% of the shoots of Xarel.lo from the Vinya dels Fossils, which has a northerly orientation. The first heat wave came in May and was repeated at the end of June, for nearly a month, one of the longest heat waves in the past 20 years. All this, with a rainfall of 62 L/m2 from January to July, caused extreme conditions for vegetative development: the varieties that adapted best to these contrasts are the Xarel.lo, Sumoll and Monastrell.

During the agricultural year (from October 2014 to September 2015) we had a very low rainfall of 375 L/m2 and the average temperature was 15.5 °C

Rounded, warm and concentrated wines.

Vinification
The six years of ageing in stacks give it a bright gold colour and a marvellous structure on the palate, as well as an enveloping silky texture with a long, bitter finish typical of wines from the Conca del Riu Anoia.

The wines that Manuel Raventós selected for this vintage was Macabeu and Xarel·lo from diferents parcels; the varieties that allows the long ageing of our sparkling wines, due to its good agricultural performance and its aromatic and taste potential.
