Situated on Bordeaux's renowned Right Bank, Pomerol is one of the world's most prestigious wine appellations. Known for its clay and gravel soils, the region produces predominantly Merlot-based wines that combine richness, elegance, and exceptional aging potential.
Château Chantalouette is the second wine of the historic Château de Sales, the largest estate in Pomerol and one of the few properties that has remained in the same family for over five centuries.
Winemaking
The 2018 vintage was marked by a warm, dry growing season following a wet spring, allowing the grapes to achieve outstanding ripeness and concentration. The grapes were hand-harvested at optimal maturity and vinified parcel by parcel to preserve their individual character. Gentle extraction and carefully controlled fermentation were followed by aging in French oak barrels, resulting in a wine that balances ripe fruit with freshness, structure, and finesse.
Tasting Notes
The 2018 Château Chantalouette displays a deep garnet color with an inviting bouquet of ripe black cherries, blackberries, plum, violet, cocoa, and subtle notes of cedar and sweet spice. The palate is generous and velvety, with silky tannins supporting layers of dark fruit, licorice, mocha, and earthy mineral nuances. Rich yet beautifully balanced, the wine finishes with freshness and impressive length. Enjoy now after decanting or cellar for several more years as it continues to develop complexity.
