The Estate

Château Lagrange à Pomerol is a historic estate located on the northern part of the Pomerol plateau. Acquired by Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, the vineyard benefits from clay and gravel soils ideally suited to Merlot. The wine is produced at Château Trotanoy under the meticulous standards of the Moueix family, with a focus on expressing the purity and finesse of the Pomerol terroir. The vineyard is planted with 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, and the grapes are harvested entirely by hand.

Winemaking

2018 vintage provided ideal conditions for producing concentrated, expressive wines. Following careful hand harvesting and rigorous grape selection, fermentation takes place in traditional concrete vats. The wine undergoes gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity before maturing in French oak barrels for approximately 18–24 months, adding complexity while maintaining balance and elegance.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby in colour, aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, plum, and black cherry, complemented by notes of pepper, cedar, and subtle spice. The palate is full-bodied and beautifully textured, offering silky, well-rounded tannins, generous dark fruit, and hints of cocoa and earthy minerality. Rich yet refined, it finishes long and harmonious, making it enjoyable now after decanting while offering excellent aging potential.
